2.5-mile swim along the shore in waist-deep water, 12-mile bike route and 3-mile

Pre-Christmas celebration featuring the world and times of Charles Dickens.
Thousands of celebrants dress in turn-of-the-century outfits to enhance the
mood. Jugglers, magicians, tightrope walkers and acrobats, choirs, dance troupes

Historic Landmark District.

Island etc (east-end Theatre Company) is a theatrical resident company in
Galveston. Its aim is to provide Galveston area audiences with innovative and
cutting-edge productions. Look forward to seeing many of the newer works by both
known and new playwrights. Along with their unique offerings, they also produce
some of the 'old favorites.' Island etc is a small, professional theatre with

A widely renowned, magnificently restored theater that has won awards for its
excellence of design, and has featured a long list of legendary performers
including Sara Bernhardt, Paderewski, and Anna Pavlova. This is a not-for-profit
performing arts theater that presents more than 25 productions annually,
including dance, drama, Broadway musicals, opera, as well as shows featuring
stars of stage and screen.

The Strand Theatre is located in the heart of the Galveston Island Strand
Historical District in the 1871 Oppermann building, 2317 Ships Mechanic Row.
This award-winning, million-dollar restoration has created an elegant, intimate
200 seat theatre across from the historic Tremont House. All trolleys stop in
front of the theatre; ample covered parking is available at the nearby Moody
Parking Garage at 24th and Harborside.

The Galveston Symphony
Orchestra is dedicated to mastering and performing the full range of symphonic
literature. This ensemble of highly skilled amateur and professional musicians
has been bringing the unforgettable experience of live performances to Galveston
audiences since 1979 with a repertoire of compositions ranging from the baroque
to the contemporary. In the belief that symphonic music can be enjoyed by anyone
who has the opportunity to hear it, the Galveston Symphony Orchestra presents
programs that transcend boundaries of culture and differences in economic and
